Launching Cheltenham Gardens for Nature

We’re excited to launch Cheltenham Gardens for Nature – a new project focused on unlocking the potential of gardens and outdoor spaces across Cheltenham for wildlife.

Across the town, gardens, balconies and shared spaces make up a significant part of our green space. Together, they form a powerful but often overlooked network – one that could play a vital role in supporting nature and connecting habitats across Cheltenham.

Cheltenham Gardens for Nature is about bringing these spaces together – celebrating what’s already happening, supporting people to take simple actions, and helping build a more connected, nature-friendly town.

As a first step, we’ve created a short online checklist where you can tell us what’s happening in your garden or other outside space and, if you’d like, pledge your space for nature. This will help us start to build a picture of wildlife-friendly spaces across Cheltenham and how they link together.

Over time, the project will grow to include more opportunities to get involved – from sharing ideas and practical support to connecting neighbours, streets and communities.

These activities support the work led by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, helping link local action into the People’s Nature Reserve.

Whether you’re already gardening for wildlife or just getting started, you’re very welcome to be part of it.
