Behind the Scenes with Charlton Kings in Bloom

We’re really pleased to share a piece about the wonderful work of Charlton Kings in Bloom, a volunteer-led group helping to brighten and green part of Cheltenham.

You can find out more about their projects, events and how to get involved on their website.

Charlton Kings In Bloom (CKiB) are a friendly group of unpaid volunteers, supported by lots of keen local gardeners, all working together to help Charlton Kings look its very best.

Throughout the year they host a range of fundraising events open to everyone, including gardening talks, the popular Plant Fair and an inspiring Garden Trip.

Every penny raised goes straight back into the village. From planting thousands of spring bulbs, to maintaining the black planters around the village, and caring for the seasonal displays at the War Memorial – they are proud to add colour and life to our community.

The aim is simple:

  • To promote gardening as a community activity
  • To bring people together
  • To make Charlton Kings an even lovelier place to live and work

One of the highlights of the year is the Annual Plant Sale, held right in the centre of the village, a date not to miss in May!

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing a behind-the-scenes timeline of how it all begins, plus insights into what the volunteers get up to throughout the seasons.

Follow along and watch Charlton Kings bloom!
