Could you inspire others with ‘one thing for nature’ you do in your garden?

That’s the thinking behind One Thing for Nature – a new community photo exhibition that will be part of Cheltenham Gardens for Nature on Saturday 8 August.

We’re inviting people across Cheltenham to help create One Thing for Nature – a community photo exhibition celebrating the small actions making a big difference for wildlife in our gardens, balconies, patios, allotments and other outdoor spaces. What if one small idea in your garden inspired someone else to make a change in theirs?

Perhaps you’ve planted flowers for pollinators, cut a hedgehog hole in your fence, put out water for wildlife, left a corner a little wilder, installed a bird box or simply started growing some of your own food.

Whatever your one thing is, we’d love to celebrate it.

Upload your ‘one thing’ photo on our Cheltenham Gardens for Nature event page.

Every outdoor space matters

One of the ideas behind Cheltenham Gardens for Nature is that nature recovery doesn’t only happen in parks and nature reserves. It happens in gardens. On allotments. In shared courtyards. On patios, balconies and terraces. Even a few pots outside your front door can provide food and shelter for wildlife.

Individually, these actions may seem small. Together, they create a town that’s better connected for nature.

A celebration of local action

The exhibition will showcase photographs from people across Cheltenham, highlighting the many different ways local residents are making space for wildlife.

Our hope is that visitors won’t just enjoy the exhibition – they’ll leave inspired to try one idea themselves. Because sometimes seeing what someone else has done is all it takes to realise, “I could do that.”

Take part

If you’d like to be part of the exhibition, simply upload:

  • One photograph
  • A few words about what you’ve done

We’ll display as many entries as we can at Cheltenham Gardens for Nature. You can upload your photo on our Cheltenham Gardens for Nature event page.
